Strike duo assess win

Tanner and Samuel on cup progression

Craig Tanner and Dominic Samuel have both given their reactions to a fantastic 3-1 victory over QPR on Tuesday evening, in the Barclays U21 Premier League Cup.

The two linked up well on the night, with Tanner bagging a brace - and assisting Samuel for the opening goal of the contest.

Interviews with the duo, plus a chat with goalkeeper Dan Lincoln and extended match highlights will be available on Reading FC Player later today.

Craig Tanner

"It was enjoyable, my first competitive game back since my ankle injury and thankfully I did well, but more importantly we're through to the next round. The guys who have helped me with my rehab have been terrific and to come back today in front of a crowd at the stadium, I couldn't ask for anything more. Playing at Hogwood is always nice - but when you're at the stadium it gives you a feel for what it will be like when you get that first team chance. I just want to keep fit now, keep progressing and catch the eye of the first team manager."

Dominic Samuel

"It was a great team performance, throughout the week we've been working hard on pressing from the front and working hard as a team and we did that tonight. It was a superb pass from Tanner for my goal - at Hogwood I've also been working on getting on the defender's shoulder and I thought 'this is the time to do it', I was buzzing when it curled in. The whole team did tremendously well - hopefully we can take it on to the next game. We're going for it this year! We've had a few bad games in the league but now it's time to kick on and get the wins."
