'The Royal' remembers...

8 November 2013

Focus falls on fallen heroes

In this weekend's matchday programme, we remember...

The 15-page reverse programme is entirely dedicated to our activities around Remembrance Day and, as a follow-up to the 20-page special we wrote in 'The Royal' a couple of years ago, we follow the story of another former Royal who fought in World War I...Freddie Wheatcroft.

Leading military historian Jon Cooksey writes about our club's continued commitment to honouring those who have fought and continue to fight on our behalf, and we look back on our supporters' trip to the French battlefields two years ago, a journey of discovery for loyal Royals, young and old.

In the main body of the programme, we have an exclusive interview with keeper Alex McCarthy who speaks about the scrutiny on goalkeepers and his hopes for the future.

And every supporter who buys a programme this weekend will also be able to pick up a FREE A2-sized poster, with the squad photo on one side and images from our Madejski Stadium Open Day on the reverse. Don't miss out!

The manager updates us on injuries and captain Jobi McAnuff reveals whose birthday treats were the best this week down at Hogwood Park. We have historical articles on birthday boy James Harper and former Reading legend Maurice Evans, and we also have a two-page spread featuring your #MyTownMyClub photos from our Open Day.

You can win a signed Royston Drenthe shirt or the latest album from The Feeling in competitions run inside this issue, this is a programme not to miss.

The programme is still only £3, remains perfect bound, 84 pages long and jam-packed with content. You can buy your copy from one of our two programme pods at the ground, from our sellers dotted around the stadium concourses, from the megastore and the Ticket Office - and if you miss a copy you can even buy your issue online at
