"An absolute top pro"

Adkins hails Gorkss

Nigel Adkins has spoken highly of defender Kaspars Gorkss, describing the Latvian skipper as an absolute top professional.

Given the formidable central defensive partnership of Alex Pearce and Sean Morrison, Kaspars has had to bide his time for a place in the starting XI and Adkins has hailed him for his dedication to the cause.

"For ten games we've had two young centre halves together in Pearce and Morrison, and they have grown in stature all the way through," said the manager.

"You talk about squads of players - I mentioned about Ledge before, and Kaspars Gorkss has been an absolute top, top pro.

"You can see why he captains his nation. Unfortunately he’s not been able to start, with the two youngsters and us wanting that bit of continuity to get the balance together.

"But Kaspars, I cannot speak highly enough about him. He’s an experienced pro who does everything right."

Gorkss is set to captain Latvia next week for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Lithuania and Slovakia - check back to this week for an international round-up.
