Boss awaits competitive game

Adkins on Millwall clash

Manager Nigel Adkins has warned against complacency ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship fixture with Millwall at Madejski Stadium.

The Royals remain unbeaten at home in this 2013/14 campaign and that's a record Adkins wants to continue as he stressed the importance of winning games in RG2.

"It is important," Adkins told Reading FC Player. "We talked about it at the start of the campaign, you've got to make sure pick up your points at home, you win your home games.

"We've debriefed the game as a group, we go through several aspects of it. At the end of the day we scored four good goals and picked up three valuable points."

The manager highlighted the form of our visitors, who will go into the game buoyed after holding Queens Park Rangers to a 2-2 draw last weekend.

"The next game we've got now is Millwall, they're going to present a tough challenge - we know that. We know that we've got to be on top of our game from an energy point of view to give ourselves a good opportunity in the game because I know they're going through a good run of form at the moment.

"They are a very competitive side with a number of very good individual players, some of which I've had at previous clubs. It's going to be a good game for us but one where we've got to be mentally bang on.

"It's going to be a competitive game, they've got a young enthusiastic manager and a fan base that's going to get behind the team. We've got to make sure we can physically match their intent."
