Adkins on left back

Nigel Adkins is pleased to have excellent options at full back, with Wayne Bridge coming off in Saturday's game against Millwall.

The left back once again put in a very good performance against the Lions, and he has now made 9(+1) appearances for the Royals.

He has been incredibly consistent since joining in the summer, and we have a wealth of full back options with four full internationals in Wayne, Chris Gunter, Stephen Kelly and Shaun Cummings.

The boss said after the game, "Wayne was feeling his knee, he wasn't moving all that well so we kept him going for a little bit.

"We've got a good group and an international to come on in Stephen Kelly. He did well and made the impact we needed with Wayne going off."

Billy Sharp and Alex McCarthy both participated in part of Monday's open training session at Madejski Stadium, while Royston Drenthe, Danny Williams, Jem Karacan, Jason Roberts and Mikele Leigertwood were all working with our medical staff.

The boss said last week, "We've had injuries, every team does and we're not hiding away from that, but I'd like to think we've dealt with them well. We've only had one soft tissue injury which was Billy who had just come in, everyone else is a contact injury.

"Everyone is endeavouring to get fit, they'll be fit when they're fit."
