Garath targets more goals

McCleary on finding the net

Garath McCleary is hoping to add more goals to his name after scoring his first goal of the season in our 4-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

The energetic winger is among the top players in the league with the highest number of assists, as he set up three as well as bagging one last weekend.

"It was a convincing win - I think we played really well in spells, especially in the first 15 minutes," he said.

"Personally I was really happy, but more pleased for the team to get the three points with a few more goals which help us in the table. It was a fantastic performance from the boys and long may it continue.

"I keep getting a bit of stick from Pav and Alfie, but it was a good feeling to score! I think when I scored the goal I shouted 'finally' because it has been a while. Hopefully I can get a few more and continue my form."

Garath added that every player in Nigel Adkins' squad is hungry to achieve success this season and earn promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

"There are a lot of teams tipped to go up this season because it's a very competitive league," he said. "We're going to take it one game at a time and hopefully we can pick up enough points.

"Every player wants to test themselves at the highest level - the whole team would tell you that they want to get back into the Premier League. I'm very much the same, so hopefully we can do that this season."
