Guthrie: More to come

3 October 2013

Midfielder pleased with POTM nomination

As the Royals prepare to take on Sky Bet Championship league leaders Burnley, Danny Guthrie feels that our best form is still ahead of us.

The midfielder was pleased to have been nominated for the player of the month award, but believes his nomination is symbiotic with the team's run of form as the Royals stretch to six games unbeaten.

"Yeah it's nice, I've been playing ok and it goes hand in hand with how well the team has been playing," he told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"You face some difficult times and some good times, but it's a lovely feeling to have the fans behind me and the team and long may that continue."

Guthrie added that he's loving his football under manager Nigel Adkins, and believes the Royals haven't yet hit top form so far this season.

"Everyone wants to play, everyone enjoys playing - particularly when we've been picking up some great results like we have. I'm enjoying my football and enjoying playing under the manager.

"We're fifth now, four points off the top and I don't think we've hit anywhere near our top gear yet. We've got a great squad, injuries to come back. We're winning games, getting points even though we're not playing tremendously well. But they all say that's the sign of a good team."
