Nick Harvey joins
The Royals would like to welcome Nick Harvey to Madejski Stadium as our new Head Of Sports Science, and thank the departing Karl Halabi for his service to the club.
Nick has more than ten years’ worth of experience at Southampton, starting in their Academy setup and assisting the careers of players such as Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He has a first class reputation in the game, and having been appointed at first team level by George Burley and Sir Clive Woodward, he then went on to work under Alan Pardew and Nigel Adkins among others, aiding Adkins’ back-to-back promotions into the Premier League. A Loughborough graduate, the 39-year-old was born in Bracknell and schooled in Winnersh.
Nick takes over a role previously held by Halabi, who moves to pastures new with very best wishes from Reading FC. Formerly a youth player at the Club, he came back to Madejski Stadium under Brendan Rodgers, gave four years of excellent service to the Royals and will always be welcome back.
Manager Nigel Adkins said, “Nick is coming in, he is an excellent Sports Scientist and will head up the department, I’ve utilised him before to great effect at Southampton.
“Karl did a great job and served the football club very well, he too is an excellent Sports Scientist and will always be welcome back here for the great work he has done.
“We are all together here at Reading, Nick will now work alongside myself, Andy Crosby and Dean Wilkins, we know each other well and Luke Anthony & Sal Bibbo, they are doing great jobs.”
Director of Football Nick Hammond said, "I would like to welcome Nick Harvey to the Club, he is an extremely experienced and highly regarded practitioner.
"I would also like to thank Karl Halabi for his marvellous contribution over the last four years and wish him the very best for the future."
