Manager gives updateNigel Adkins gave an injury update on his squad at Hogwood Park on Thursday afternoon, ahead of Saturday's home game with Millwall.
The manager has no fresh injury concerns and revealed that Billy Sharp has been getting closer to a return though is unlikely to feature this weekend, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy may also miss the game with the Lions.
"The group that played last weekend are all good which is important," Adkins told Reading FC Player. "It's nice that Billy Sharp has done a bit more on the grass today (Thursday). Is it going to be too soon for the weekend? Probably.
"It's similar with Alex McCarthy - though it would be very difficult to leave out Adam Federici anyway after his performance last weekend."
Adkins also touched on a number of our first team players who have been suffering with longer term injuries.
"The long term injuries are obviously Jem Karacan, Jason Roberts and Mikele Leigertwood. Jem has just started the rehab of his knee injury. It's been frustrating for Mikele Leigertwood, but what a top professional he is and a top bloke. I feel sorry for him because he's worked so hard, he's had one or two little niggles that have set him back a bit but he's dealt with that. The sooner he gets back and is available the better. And obviously we've got Royston Drenthe and Danny Williams who have been injured since the Leeds United game."
