Liam goes viral...again!

14 October 2013

Another wondergoal for U18s star

As well being one of our key players amongst our impressive under-18s team this campaign, Liam Kelly has been raising eyebrows all over the world with his second wondergoal of the season!

Playing for the Republic of Ireland U19s in their second Euro 2014 qualifier, 17-year-old Kelly - who only recently received his first call up at this age group - came off the bench to score a sensational 83rd minute chip from the halfway line, and secure a memorable 1-0 win for the Emerald Isle against a strong Sweden side.

At the time of writing Kelly's latest piece of magic has accumulated well over 200,000 views and has been published on the Daily Mail's website, Monday's BBC Sport Gossip column and the Metro.

Credit must also go to Kelly's Academy team mate from last season, defender Sean Long, who captained Ireland to another clean sheet and victory. Sean signed a professional contract with the club over the summer and led the boys to another magnificent result, following their 2-0 win over Azerbaijan last weekend.

As most Royals supporters will know by now, this isn't the first time that a Liam Kelly goal has gone viral on Youtube. Watch below, as Liam scored a quite magical free kick in our Academy's 3-1 win over Bolton back in September.
