Pearce hails squad strength

Centre back ahead of Millwall

Royals defender Alex Pearce hailed the depth and quality of Nigel Adkins' squad ahead of this weekend's game with Millwall at Madejski Stadium.

Pearce, currently relishing his central defensive partnership with Sean Morrison, highlighted the fact that despite a number of injuries, the squad is still more than strong enough to give the manager a selection headache.

"You look around and every position is covered," he said. We've got one or two players for every position and some quality players too. We've got some really good players that aren't in the team and aren't even in the squad at the moment which shows the kind of squad we have.

"It's really good to be playing with Sean, he's playing well week in week out - he's got everything he needs to go right to the very top. For myself it's going well too, I'm enjoying being in the team and the results are going well for us as a whole."

Madejski Stadium will host Saturday's fixture with Steve Lomas' Lions, and Pearce believes our pedigree at home will be hugely beneficial to this match and for the rest of the campaign.

"They've got some good players and some very experienced Championship players. It'll be a tough test for us - they picked up a good result last weekend against QPR which will give them confidence, but we like to think we that any team that comes to Madejski will have a tough game, and that we can beat any team.

"Home form is key, and our form has been really good at home. Teams are coming to us and they know that they'll have a tough game - you can see by the way they set up."
