Royals support military charityReading FC are delighted to once again support the charity Tickets For Troops, by donating tickets for our home fixtures in this 2013/14 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
The military charity, which provides free tickets for sporting, musical and theatrical events to members of the Armed Forces, has had a longstanding partnership with the Royals and Football League clubs since the scheme was established in 2009.
Universally, over 85,000 football tickets have been donated to the charity since 2009 and last season alone saw in excess of 35,000 football tickets distributed to servicemen and women across the UK. Currently 19,000 tickets have been donated by Football League clubs for the upcoming 2013/14 season.
Members of the Armed Forces and those who have been medically discharged from the services since 2001 can book tickets via the charity’s website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk
Reading Chairman Sir John Madejski said: “During my 23 years as Chairman of Reading Football Club, the community has always been at the forefront of every project we have undertaken, the centrepiece to everything we do as a club. Tickets for Troops gives us the chance to thank the men and women who continue to fight on our behalf for our country and to celebrate everything that our armed forces do on a daily basis to keep our community safe. We are thrilled to be involved in such a worthy initiative and I will be delighted to welcome true heroes to Madejski Stadium on a regular basis throughout this exciting Championship campaign.”
Tickets For Troops Chairman, Lord Marland, said: "The men and women of Her Majesty's Armed Forces are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times and it is fantastic that Reading FC and The Football League have wanted to demonstrate their support and appreciation in such a generous way."
England talisman and Tickets For Troops Patron, Steven Gerrard MBE, said: “Young men and women are risking their lives every day and Tickets for Troops is a very simple way of respecting their courage and their sacrifices.”
