Ugwu, Tshibola and Murombedzi score
Reading 4 (Murombedzi 4, Ugwu 20 & 52, Tshibola 42)
A young Reading side sealed a thrilling 4-3 victory over Luton Town's U21s on Tuesday afternoon at Hogwood Park.
Shepherd Murombedzi fired the Royals ahead after just four minutes before Town equalised with a close-range header less than ten minutes later.
The Royals then retook the lead after just 20 minutes. Goalscorer Murombedzi then won a penalty, which allowed Gozie Ugwu to confidently score from the spot.
Young Reading striker Craig Tanner, making his comeback after months out with injury, almost scored on his return when he was through one-on-one - but the Luton goalkeeper made a smart save.
Aaron Tshibola then forced the shot stopper to parry away his long range drive, before 'Tish' then skied a chance from the resulting corner.
But the midfielder, who was on the bench for the first team at Derby earlier this season, would soon find himself on the scoresheet.
The referee pointed to the spot for the second time in the game and Tshibola took over spot-kick duties to put Reading 3-1 up just before half time.
Reading extended their lead just minutes after the break. Tshibola involved again as he went on a magnificent solo run down the left out side, cutting inwards to pick out substitute Jack Stacey who played a clever ball in for Ugwu to slot home with a stylish finish.
It was a fantastic team goal to put the Royals 4-1 up and Luton surely out of sight, but our visitors didn't give up the fight.
The Hatters got their second from a penalty before setting up a nervy final couple of minutes when they made it 4-3 with an excellent half volley - but the Royals held out for the win which sets them up nicely for Monday night's Barclays U21 Premier League fixture at Tottenham Hotspur.
