Manager on Derby challengeRoyals manager Nigel Adkins underlined the importance of building momentum ahead of Saturday's trip to Derby County.
The Rams, who have also enjoyed a solid start to the season, are our next Sky Bet Championship opponents - and Adkins is relishing the game at Pride Park.
"Derby are on fire," said the manager. "They are doing great, it's a great challenge and one we should relish.
"We've all got a vision on how we want to play, but the opposition won't just sit back and allow you to do it. You've got to be competitive, we knew Wednesday would be an energetic encounter, the lads kept going and we all went home happy because we won. They had a chance late on and it could have been different, but it wasn't.
"It's about winning, you are measured on matchdays and the lads are working tirelessly. I think throughout the club we've got excellent coaches and we can keep improving the players technically psychically and tactically.
"The League table will fluctuate. We have to keep building momentum, stay in the race, then get to January put yourself in a position to win it."
Adkins also added that with a few knocks around the camp, Saturday may provide an opportunity of involvement for a number of our young stars.
"It's a quick turnaround, maybe it's an opportunity for some of the under 21s and see if they are ready for it," he said.
"We'll go there with a positivity, and players will get an opportunity to grasp, like for example Hope Akpan did when Jem went off."
