Latest from Nigel AdkinsManager Nigel Adkins is delighted to have added Billy Sharp to his squad, and wants to maintain our momentum when we face Birmingham City at Madesjki Stadium this Saturday, kick off 3pm.
Sharp has signed on an emergency loan, and is aiming to be involved against Lee Clark's side. His signing adds to the feelgood factor as go into the game with ten points from a possible twelve and our best start to a season in seven years.
Adkins told Reading FC Player, "We're delighted, we added Chris Baird last week and now Billy has joined us on an emergency loan. We're really pleased because they both add to the group, I always talk about competition for places, we've got several injuries at the moment and we need a squad.
"Pavel was outstanding at Derby last week, also the distance he covered, and since the window shut he's been top drawer. Adam Le Fondre will always score goals and Billy has a great record. On top of that we've got several players who can contribute, scoring goals is a big emphasis for us.
"Billy knows what the Championship is all about. He is a smashing young man. I've known him for a long time, he's a passionate character, infectious and a very talented footballer.
"Now we go into Saturdays's game, our momentum is building and we want to keep that going. Birmingham have good momentum themselves after an excellent win in midweek so we know it will be a challenge, but we also want to make it challenging for them.
"I'm sure there'll be a good atmosphere, loads of noise and the players have to be positive and work hard. With the competition for places they've got to do the business, but we are all going in the same direction, which is important."
