Former Royals boss ready to return
Brian McDermott says he is looking forward to returning to Madejski Stadium on Wednesday evening, and has nothing but good memories of his time with the Royals.
Speaking to Leeds United’s official website, the former Reading boss spoke glowingly of his time at the club.
“It will be nice to see people that I never had that chance to say goodbye to. So I’ll be looking forward to going back as far as that is concerned,” said Brian.
“It’s amazing how time passes by, I did look at the date when the fixtures came out – time flies. It was a difficult time but I feel fine and I learnt a lot. I have no regrets about anything that happened at Reading. I have no bitterness about it. I just have good memories about the fantastic time that I had there.
“It’s just another game. I want to win the game but so will Reading. That’s it, that’s how it is, it’s a game of football. From my side and I’m sure Reading’s side there will be nothing but respect and that’s important to me.”
The game also sees a return for hugely respected assistant Nigel Gibbs, alongside popular striker Noel Hunt – and current boss Nigel Adkins says he is looking forward to seeing all three men back in Berkshire.
“Of course the game is special for Brian McDermott, Nigel Gibbs and Noel Hunt returning. They are doing a fantastic job for Leeds United and should get a great round of applause when they come back, because they were fantastic servants for Reading Football Club.”
