Royals shine in BBC study

12 September 2013

Results show top value for Royals supporters

Figures from BBC's Price of Football 2013, released this (Thursday) morning, demonstrate that Royals supporters are getting fantastic value for money at Madejski Stadium.

The annual study shows that the Royals have lowered their cheapest matchday adult ticket by 32% from last season, the greatest price reduction out of the three relegated clubs from the Premier League.

Key Points

Only seven clubs in the Sky Bet Championship offer a cheaper season ticket price for the most expensive area of the stadium (West Stand Upper).

The Royals have lowered their cheapest matchday adult ticket by 32% from last season, the greatest price reduction out of the three relegated clubs from the Premier League.

Only five clubs in the division offer a cheaper cup of tea, ours is priced at £1.80.

At £3, the price of Reading's matchday programme 'The Royal' is in line with the vast majority of Championship clubs. No club has a cheaper programme, with ours offering top value with 84 pages.

A 'day out' at Madejski Stadium (tickets, programme, pie and cup of tea), is just £33 - cheaper than a number of tickets for well-known attractions in the UK, as shown by the BBC.

Furthermore, the club have been delighted with the fact that our season ticket prices have been held for five years now, in fact they are cheaper than they were in 2008 last time we were relegated from the top flight.

What's more, in 2007/8 the average price our fans paid for a season ticket was £370 while 2012/13 the average price our fans paid for a season ticket was £241.

We are also proud to be doing all we can to invite our next generation to the club. Our 16 and under season tickets are priced at only £5.43 per game over the course of the season. Match tickets are only £10 for 16 & under, we also run an official Royals FunZone with football freestylers, a speed cage, trophy photo board, visits from our mascots and more.

And finally, not only are the Royals offering top value for money but the club were also hailed for the quality of their matchday experience in a survey carried out by VisitFootball. The results showed that the Royals offered supporters the fifth-best matchday experience in the entire Premier League in 2012/13.
