U18s beaten at Boro

2 September 2013

1-0 defeat for Academy

The Royals Academy were narrowly defeated away at Middlesbrough on Saturday, as a goal from Thomas McAloon sealed the points.

Our under-18s played well in large spells in the North East, but the solitary strike and a stubborn Boro back four condemned the Royals to their second defeat of the season.

Harry Cardwell made his under-18s debut with a number of regular players out, including Liam Kelly who was on international duty with the Republic of Ireland while Jack Stacey, Aaron Kuhl, Tariqe Fosu were absent as they were involved in Monday night's under-21s game at Everton.

Royals: Ward; Owusu, McLennan, Dickie, Hyam; Shaughnessy (Collins 70), Watson, Lawal, Ofori (Taylor-Crossdale 45); Cardwell, Ismajli (Husin 70).
