'Achieving young dreams'

Dolan on FA Youth Cup semi-final

Royals Academy Director Eamonn Dolan is predicting a 'terrific night' this evening as the Royals host Fulham for the first leg of their FA Youth Cup semi-final.

"It's exciting times for the boys, they've been terrific," he told Reading FC Player. "It's a nice achievement for him. The FA Youth Cup is a great competition and it's the furthest the club have ever been, which is great for them.

"The task now is to win that first leg, concentrate on that and then go forward from there. It should be a terrific night."

"We believe we've got players in the group that have got the mindset that is required. We've got one ambition, and that's to be an option for the manager. If they have the mindset to do what the manager wants, then they'll get the chance to achieve their dreams. This manager is the best in the business, he's shown that at Southampton."

The Royals will be looking to avenge the two league defeats Fulham have inflicted on them this season, as well last season's Premier League final triumph.

The Cottagers, who also boast a Category One Academy, have been in excellent form in this campaign - and Dolan paid respect to their set-up.

"I've got a lot of respect for Huw Jennings and Steve Wigley and the staff there," Dolan added.

"They're an excellent Academy, as they showed last year. They have a slightly different philosophy in the way they do it. A lot of our boys have been developed within the club and have been with us for a long time, which is our preferred model."
