Le Fondre thrilled to scoreAdam Le Fondre was delighted to return to goalscoring form on Tuesday night, as he helped the Royals see off Middlesbrough and move back into the top six.
'Alfie' bundled home early on soon before an own goal put Reading comfortably ahead, and sealing all three points at Madejski Stadium was the most important factor for the striker.
"It was nice to be back amongst the goals," he said. "The main thing is that we've got three points and we've back into the Play-Off places.
"The results went for us over the weekend and we've put in a quality performance and taken all three points.
"We needed to respond and I think we did that. The fans were on their feet and I think they enjoyed the game. We were attacking, we kept the ball well and defended brilliantly too."
Le Fondre was more than happy to tap home from close range to end his goal drought, and praised his strike partner Pavel Pogrebnyak for his performance coming off the bench.
"Just a little bit! I wouldn't like to wait so long for another goal. I prefer scoring those tap-ins - I think that's me, that's what I'm about.
"I've not been taking my chances recently, but I did against Middlesbrough and also hit the bar. I thought that I played reasonably well and Pavel did great too. We feed off each other and we've got a good relationship on and off the pitch."
