Away win for U18s

23 April 2014

Leicester beaten 2-0

Reading's under-18s secured another impressive win on the road, as they beat Leicester City 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

On the same day that Nigel Adkins' men beat Middlesbrough by two goals to nil, our Academy enjoyed a victory of the same scoreline just hours prior to the Madejski Stadium win.

De'Jaune Taylor-Crossdale, the substitute hero and shoot-out clincher in the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals, was composed once again from the spot as he gave the Royals the lead midway through the first half.

Midfielder Noor Husin doubled our advantage in the second half of what was a comfortable win in the East Midlands. Next up for Reading's youth is Manchester United, as our under-21s face the Red Devils in league action at Madejski Stadium on Thursday night - free entry to supporters!

The under-18s are back in league action this Saturday, taking on Sunderland at Hogwood Park behind closed doors.

Reading: Gogic; Sheppard, McLennan, Ethelston, Jules; Shaughnessy, Husin, Owusu, Lawal; Vastsuk, Taylor-Crossdale.
