Adkins on five game season

Nigel Adkins says everything that has happened this season must now be put to one side, as the Royals focus on a five-game campaign.

As the manager rightly pointed out, our route to securing a place in the play-offs is still in our hands as they prepare to take on Leicester City on Monday evening.

"We've put the Bournemouth game to bed," he told Reading FC Player. "What we're looking at now is a five game season.

"It's still in our hands. I'd back us all the way in the play-off positions, but we've got to get there first.

"Everything that has happened this season, we now put to one side. We looked forward to the next game, with a desire, hunger and positivity."

Already-promoted Leicester are our opponents at Madejski Stadium for this evening's 8.07pm kick off, and Adkins says the Royals are aiming to earn the opportunity to join them in the Barclays Premier League.

"We welcome the champions to Madejski Stadium, they've been up there because they've been consistent. They narrowly missed out last season, but they've kept the group together and learned the lessons.

"They're going to enjoy Premier League football next year, but what we've got to do is give ourselves an opportunity to do it as well."
