Jobi: He's a powerhouse

8 April 2014

Skipper praise for Williams

Skipper Jobi McAnuff has described fellow Royal Danny Williams as a powerhouse in midfield.

Williams scored the all-important goal in our win at Charlton on Saturday, taking his tally for the season to three, all away from home.

The American international drove forward superbly from midfield to fire home Danny Guthrie's pass, and Jobi told readingfc.co.uk, "He's a real powerhouse in midfield, he drives forward with and without the ball. He's got energy, he wins his tackles, we were delighted with his goal and he took it well.

"Overall it was a good away performance and a fantastic win. We had to grind it out, there was nothing in it in the first half but in the second half we were the better team and created chances. We know we'll get opportunities on the break and with set plays, and we managed to take one of them.

"It was great to keep a clean sheet as well because we've let some soft goals in recently, and we needed to address that if we want to make the play-offs."

The Royals travel to Bournemouth tonight in search of an eleventh away win of the season, and Jobi goes there full of confidence.

"Our away form is as good as any in the League, so we want to go there and get a result. They've done well so we'll be aware of that, but the way we're playing away from home we fancy ourselves against anyone.

"At this point of the season it's about results, however you get them. We've got everyone pulling in the same direction, and we're very confident in what we've got in the group."

The game is SOLD OUT for Reading fans but you can listen live on Reading FC Player for full audio commentary.
