Taylor eyes final day victory

28 April 2014

'We're confident about Saturday'

Jake Taylor says the Royals are confident that they can clinch the three points they need to secure a place in the Play-Offs of the Sky Bet Championship, when Burnley come to town on Saturday.

The Academy graduate made a real impact coming off the substitute's bench away at Doncaster this past weekend, and speaking to Reading FC Player, he was sure of his answer when asked if his assist for Pavel Pogrebnyak's header was his best moment in a Reading shirt so far.

"Yeah definitely," he said. "That's what I've grown up wanting to do. Thankfully I've helped get us the goal that has potentially kept us in the Play-Offs.

"Going 1-0 down was obviously difficult for us, but to turn it around shows great character and it shows what it means to everyone at the moment.

"I'm here to do whatever I can. I train hard, and when I'm called upon I want to give as much to the team as possible - hopefully I did that.

"Whenever you get a chance you just want to repay the manager as much as you can. Setting up a goal was a good thing for me."

The midfielder says Reading must now finish the job off in this Saturday's 12.15pm kick off with promoted Burnley, and says the supporters can make a real difference at Madejski Stadium this weekend.

"When the crowd are singing for you it's a really great thing, and boosts all of us," Taylor added.

"If we get the three points, then we're in the Play-Offs. We're all confident about that. Our fans at Doncaster were brilliant, and that's what we need on Saturday against Burnley.

"We're fighting to get into the Play-Offs and it's in our hands. This win was massive and now we want to do our job next week as well."
