Team news: Three changes

26 April 2014

Leigertwood starts as injury crisis worsens

Nigel Adkins has made three changes to the side that beat Middlesbrough ahead of this afternoon's vital visit to the Keepmoat - as injury again forces the Royals boss' hand.

Danny Guthrie (calf) and Hal Robson-Kanu (facial injury) both had to come off in the 2-0 win on Tuesday night and they are replaced by Hope Akpan and Pavel Pogrebnyak in the starting line-up.

Danny Williams also misses out on today's crucial clash with a knee injury, so Mikele Leigertwood starts his first game for more than a year. And young striker Gozie Ugwu is named amongst our substitutes.

Royston Drenthe is not amongst the substitutes after picking up a hamstring problem, adding to the queue for the treatment table that also includes Wayne Bridge and Jem Karacan.

That's not to mention a number of players who start today despite carrying knocks of their own, Jobi McAnuff and Garath McCleary are both going into the contest with existing knocks, while Pavel Pogrebnyak didn't start on Tuesday night after suffering with an injury himself.

Craig Tanner, Stephen Kelly and Aaron Tshibola have all travelled with the squad today.

One change to the Doncaster side for today's game...you guessed it...Billy Sharp starts for Paul Dickov's men!

Reading: McCarthy, Gunter, Obita, Morrison, Pearce, Akpan, Leigertwood, McAnuff (c), McCleary, Le Fondre, Pogrebnyak.
Subs: Federici, Cummings, Gorkss, Hector, Taylor, Blackman, Ugwu.
