Youngsters down United

Reading U18s 2-1 Man Utd U18s

An inexperienced Royals Academy side picked up a superb 2-1 win over Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.

With an FA Youth Cup semi-final to come on Monday evening, David Dodds made eleven changes to the team that had drawn with Fulham in midweek, with a number of first year scholars and even members of the under 16s side handed starting berths.

Reading took the lead at Hogwood Park after seven minutes as Lewis Collins blasted his finish past Dean Henderson, before Amadu Waritay finished brilliantly to double the lead shortly before the break.

Jordan Thompson reduced the deficit from the penalty spot with 18 minutes left on the clock, but the home side held on to pick up a memorable victory ahead of a huge clash for the Academy at Craven Cottage.
