Latest on seven in the treatment roomNigel Adkins has given an injury update ahead of this weekend's game with Ipswich Town.
The Royals are without seven first team players, whilst Anton Ferdinand is still regaining full fitness after joining the Royals after their pre-season campaign.
"Jem is a long term injury, he’s still a way away from being in a position to be selected from a game, but it's nice that he's been involved on the training ground," said Adkins.
"Garath McCleary was due to be out for about three months from the start of his operation, Danny Wililams probably three months too. Stephen Kelly is a couple of weeks from recovery, Danny Guthrie still has a little issue and we’ve got to try and resolve it. He felt it in training, higher up in his hamstring rather than his calf where it was before. We've got to investigate that as he's a top player we want to be available for selection. With Anton Ferdinand it’s more or less the start of pre-season now from his point of view. Jamie Mackie has done a bit more running, so he’ll be coming back sooner rather than later but not for the weekend. Hal Robson-Kanu was six weeks from the date of his injury, so really in a couple of months time, all being well we’ll have a really good squad to select from.
"We have an excellent medical team here. Sometimes injuries aren't straight forward to deal with. We're always gaining valuable knowledge."
