Forward on move to Madejski StadiumJamie Mackie says he is looking forward to working with Nigel Adkins after signing a one year loan deal at Madejski Stadium.
Speaking to Reading FC Player, the 28-year-old signalled his determination to repay his new manager’s faith – starting at Hogwood Park.
“I had a great chat with Nigel Adkins and spoke about the team and what he expects from me,” said Mackie.
“I got some great vibes from him and I’m really, really looking forward to working with him. I’ve admired him from a distance working with other teams, and hopefully we can emulate what his Southampton side did and get promoted. I’ve heard great things about the coaches too so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in at the training ground.”
The forward put pen to paper just 24 hours after his former Nottingham Forest teammate Simon Cox joined the Royals, and is optimistic that the pair can strike up a partnership for their new club.
“Coxy is a great lad, he’s here to score goals and I know he can do that. Hopefully for all the Reading fans he can fire us to where we want to go and I can help him with that. Speaking to the manager Reading have a lot of young players coming through and that’s great to be part of for me and Coxy, I like playing with players with enthusiasm and if we can add a bit of guile and experience to that it’s a great opportunity for us. I think that enthusiasm can carry you over the line sometimes, especially in the Championship.”
