Jake raring to goAfter the Royals pre-season ended last Saturday, Jake Taylor spoke of his excitement for the real thing this weekend - the start of the Sky Bet Championship campaign.
Nigel Adkins' men lost their only friendly fixture last weekend, a 3-1 defeat to top flight Swansea City at Madejski Stadium. Taylor took the positives from the game, and hailed Nick Blackman for his outstanding strike.
"It was a good experience for everyone," the midfielder told readingfc.co.uk. "We were playing against a tough Premier League side with a lot of internationals in it so we can take a lot from it.
"It's a great goal (Blackman's) for YouTube! I've seen him do it so many times in training. It's something he practices week in, week out, so to see him do it in a game doesn't really surprise me because he's got that in the locker. It was a fantastic strike and well deserved.
Jake, who has been with the Royals since the age of eight, said Reading are raring to go for this Saturday's season opener at Wigan Athletic - and also had praise for his fellow Academy graduates who have become part of the first team squad this summer.
"We've got a great Academy here with a lot of players coming through," he added. "Since all the young boys have come in they've done really well. When Kuhly (Aaron Kuhl) came on it looked like he was just playing a normal game - that's the kind of player he is.
"We've been waiting for Wigan away since the fixtures came out. Now our pre-season games are over, that's all we're looking towards. We'll strive for three points - that's what all footballers love. Everyone's looking forward to it and we'll be raring to go."
