Boss explains FA Cup changes

31 December 2014

Manager will look to his squad

Manager Steve Clarke will use Saturday's FA Cup game at Huddersfield to take a look at some of the players in his squad.

Having just come into the job, Clarke has been consistent with his team selection and nine players have started in all three League games. But with a number of Royals coming back from injury, and others craving the opportunity to impress, Steve will adjust his starting XI.

He said, "The cup is important for me, I'm still learning about the players, so a few of them will play, but not disrespecting the cup.

"I won't say it will be wholesale changes, I understand the way the supporters feel about it, I am the same having won the competition as a player and a coach. They want a cup run and so do I.

"We'll take a strong team, and there's players I want to look at before I start making decisions on the squad for January.

"It gives me a chance to look at one or two players I maybe haven't seen yet. Guthrie and Mackie came on, they'll need minutes, for example maybe they can play and boost the squad."

Tickets for the game start at just £10 for adults: click here for full information.
