News from the treatment roomSteve Clarke says he is pleased with the hard work and rehabilitation he has seen from the members of his first team squad recovering from injury.
The new boss confirmed that there is light at the end of the tunnel for some key figures at Hogwood Park, with Danny Guthrie amongst those in with a chance of a return over the Christmas period.
"In a short space of time I've had plenty of meetings with the medical staff," said Clarke. "I've spoken to all the injured lads, Jamie Mackie, Jem Karacan, Danny Guthrie and Pavel - it's difficult to say his second name! They're all positive and trying to get out there, Hope Akpan is another one, none of them are in there on a holiday.
"I spoke to Anton, an experienced centre half, it'd help to have him back although I thought Michael Hector was absolutely outstanding and it's great to see young players coming through. Hopefully Danny Guthrie will get three or four good training sessions in, if he does that he should be involved this weekend. Jem maybe a bit longer, we have to be fair to have and balance our need to have him with giving him the best chance to come back in a good condition.
Pavel has got about two weeks to go, and Mackie's hamstring strain, first time he's ever had one, also looks about two weeks away. It's important everyone is brought back properly, most of all the lads who have been out long term. We have to manage them properly."
