Pearce seeking a cup run

31 December 2014

Defender looking to kick on from Norwich win

Alex Pearce wants his teammates to take the confidence gained in Sunday’s win over Norwich into the FA Cup clash at Huddersfield this weekend.

Despite only edging out the Canaries by the odd goal, the Royals dominated the majority of the game, as Steve Clarke earned his first three points as Reading manager.

And centre-back Pearce is keen for his side to carry the momentum into the third round of the cup on Saturday.

“We haven’t really done that well in the cup lately, so we’ll be looking to do as well as we can,” said the 26-year-old. “Everyone knows that a good cup run can give everyone a lift at the club. All the fans enjoy it and we’ll be looking to do that.

“Winning games, whatever competition you’re in, breeds confidence – we all know that. The more games we can win, the better it is for everyone.

“It’s a cup game next weekend and we’ll take massive confidence from our result against Norwich on Sunday and the way we played as well. The boys were magnificent in front of me, the midfield boys, and the strikers as well. Everyone worked their
socks off and it was really pleasing to see.”
