Following his appointment on Tuesday afternoon, the former Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham coach was due to hold his first training session this morning.
The Hornets, sixth in the Championship, will arrive in Berkshire having recently recorded back-to-back league wins, though they had lost four successive games prior to that.
Last season, this clash producing a thrilling 3-3 draw in which Diego Fabbrini snatched a late point for the visitors, while a Kaspars Gorkss header earned the Royals all three points at Vicarage Road.
