Programme dedicated to our fansSunday's edition of 'The Royal' has a special feel to it - as Reading fans get to put together their own matchday programme!
The 13th issue of the season is written BY the fans FOR the fans in honour of the support our no.13 has given us all season and will continue to provide to the players throughout the second half of the campaign.
The front cover artwork (pictured) has been produced by 12-year-old Stanley Harris, a season ticket holder who sits in the Lower West Stand and who brought his design to Madejski Stadium to show to club captain, Jem Karacan, when we held an Open Day here back in October. We were so impressed by his work that Stanley was given the opportunity to see it feature on the front cover of the Norwich programme
Toby Bryant came to Madejski Stadium to watch Steve Clarke’s first game in charge against Watford and sat in the press box to write his match report from the 1-0 defeat – which is featured on pages 21-25 of ‘The Royal’. Meanwhile, Liam Baldock put pen to paper to produce the entire opponents section, so our readers have all they need to know about the visitors.
Club historian David Downs has tailored his historic article to the supporters, while the players stand aside as we feature posters of our supporters past, present and future instead.
The issue also includes some exclusive features from a fan’s angle. Make sure you read Colin Bird’s first hand account of his coffin-bearing tale from 30 years ago in ‘Fanning The Pages’, while our regular front cover design artist, Thomas L’Heureux, has written a short piece on his favourite front covers – the Royals fan has been designing our cover artwork for almost four years now and his work still impresses week in, week out.
We feature the story of German supporter Marco Bader and feature his interview with former Royal Uwe Hartenberger on pages 56-57 – and don’t miss our four-page insight into ‘The Royal Twitterati’, our eclectic mix of verified followers on Twitter in profile!
And of course we gave you, our fans, the chance to ask the questions to new manager Steve Clarke – and the best suggestions were moulded into an interview with the Royals boss earlier this week.
Last, but by no means least - every purchase of the programme, loyal Royals will be able to get 13% off all items in the Megastore on the day of the Norwich game!
