Pearce returns to bench after suspension

Royals boss Nigel Adkins has stuck to the same side that beat Norwich City on the road last weekend, making only one enforced change to his squad by including the returning Alex Pearce as a substitute.

Pearce served a one-match suspension at Carrow Road last Saturday, making way for Jake Cooper who keeps his place in the back line after scoring twice against the Canaries.

Anton Ferdinand makes way for Pearce on the bench, missing out this afternoon after picking up a calf injury. Garath McCleary makes his first Madejski Stadium appearance for more than seven months, starting in front of the home fans this afternoon after recovering from back surgery in the summer.

On the injury list are Jem Karacan, Hope Akpan, Jamie Mackie, Danny Guthrie, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Ferdinand.

Reading: Federici, Kelly, Gunter (c), Hector, Cooper, Norwood, Williams, Obita, Robson-Kanu, McCleary, Murray.
Subs: Andersen, Cummings, Pearce, Tshibola, Taylor, Blackman, Cox.

Bolton Wanderers: Lonergan, Mills (c), Ream, Feeney, Clayton, Dervite, Danns, Pratley, Vela, Lee, Davies.
Bogdan, Moxey, Spearing, Mason, Hall, Wheater, Wilkinson.
