Martin Kuhl's men win 5-1Dominic Samuel bagged a hat-trick and Tariqe Fosu and Jack Stacey also scored as Reading's U21s earned a hugely-impressive 5-1 victory away at Aston Villa.
The result made it back-to-back wins for Martin Kuhl’s side, who began the defence of their Premier League Cup title with a 3-0 win over QPR last Monday.
Villa went in front after eight minutes when Riccardo Calder headed beyond Royals stopper Dan Lincoln. Aaron Tshibola let fly form range soon afterwards but his effort was repelled by Bradley Watkins.
They were not to be denied for long, though, and Samuel finished off a neat team move to draw the contest level midway through the first half.
The young Royals gained the advantage before half-time when Fosu, who scored a stunning free-kick against QPR last Monday, saw another set-piece land in the net – albeit deflected.
A calm finished gave Samuel his second just after the break and, after Kevin Toner’s handball inside the penalty area, the striker stepped up to complete his treble.
Stacey made it five on the hour mark when he combined with Samuel and Tshibola to slot home the Royals' fifth. Another positive saw Craig Tanner return to action for the final 30 minutes, after recovering from a knee injury.
