Akpan: 100% focussed

Hope on midfield competition

The Royals are totally determined to bounce back from last weekend's Blackburn defeat with a win over Yeovil Town on Saturday at Madejski Stadium, according to midfielder HopeAkpan.

With 14 games left to play in the Sky Bet Championship season, Hope says that Reading will be looking to find a strong level of consistency as the promotion race nears its climax.

"The Blackburn game was a bit weird," he told readingfc.co.uk. "It was stop-start, there were a lot of stoppages and the lads couldn't really get going. We still created a few chances and were unlucky to lose, so hopefully we can bounce back straight away this Saturday.

"There are 14 games left, and we want to stay in the play-offs and push for promotion. We need to find a level of consistency where we're not losing games, we're winning them home and away."

24th-placed Yeovil travel to Berkshire for Saturday's game, but Akpan insists that the Glovers' league position will not affect our attitude ahead of the match.

"As I've said before, no games are easy in the Championship. Every time you turn up to a ground, you know they've got good players who can hurt you," he added.

"So we've got to make sure we're 100% focussed for the task in hand, and that's to beat Yeovil on Saturday. We want to win all our home games.

"All season there has been competition for places in that area of the field. Over the past run of the games me and Danny have put together a good partnership, we've been quite solid and hopefully we can keep that going. Danny Guthrie is a quality player so I know if he comes into the team he'll do a good job too."
