Jobi: It's an honour

20 February 2014

Royals skipper on appearance feat

Reading captain Jobi McAnuff says he is humbled to be climbing the ranks of Madejski Stadium's all time highest appearance makers.

Only six players have played more times than Jobi at the home of the Royals with Graeme Murty, Nicky Shorey, James Harper, Marcus Hahnemann, Ivar Ingimarsson and Adam Federici ahead of him.

"Even before I played at Reading I always enjoyed coming here, it's somewhere I feel comfortable with and enjoy playing my football," said McAnuff.

"Hopefully I've got a few more appearances left in me and can inch my way up that table! To captain the team for the last few seasons has been an honour. I've been fortunate to play very regularly during my time here and haven't missed too many games at the Madejski. We've had some successful times and hopefully that continues this season."

Heading into this weekend's clash with Blackburn Rovers, the skipper is expecting his side to have to use every ounce of their recent attacking prowess against Gary Bowyer's men.

"They are a very good team, very, very solid - they don't give much away and the emphasis will be on us to go at them and create chances. That's what we have to do - go and attack the game on the front foot. We're on a good run at the moment and there's a good feel around the place. There's been a consistent team selection, we're making the boys out of the team work even harder and that's what you need at the club.
