Tish eyes Cup progression

19 February 2014

Midfielder thrilled with Arsenal win

Royals youngster Aaron Tshibola says the chief focus of the under-21s now is on Thursday night's Barclays Premier League Cup quarter-final clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After scoring his second goal of the season in Monday night's league victory over Arsenal at Madejski Stadium, 'Tish' spoke of his delight as the young Royals deservedly beat a strong Gunners outfit.

"I'm buzzing," he beamed to Reading FC Player.  "A goal was due - speaking to Lee (Herron, Academy Development Manager) beforehand, he said just do what you do best and it's about time you get on the scoresheet!

"I love being in attacking areas, I love scoring goals just like anyone. I love making goals and I love getting in attacking areas and being a threat as well as coming deep to get the ball.

"To score is always nice but overall it was a good team performance, the lads dug in and we played some good football.

"They (Arsenal) had a few lads that had been with the first team, but we've had a few lads that have been with our first team so there's no difference there. They had a few big names but we matched them and out-performed them."

The 19-year-old, who was once of the Arsenal Academy, is excited about the prospect of facing the Gunners in the semi-finals of the Cup, but says the side are just concentrating on their preparation for the Wolves clash - which is set to take place at AFC Telford United, 7pm on Thursday night.

"It's all about preparing right now, getting the recovery on board," he added. "I'm sure Arsenal will be hoping we win!

"So we've just got our heads down now, we'll travel to Wolves on Thursday and hopefully get a victory there."
