Boss: "We're looking strong"

28 January 2014

Adkins calls for desire and energy

Manager Nigel Adkins says the Royals will take the desire and energy shown in recent weeks into tonight's Sky Bet Championship fixture against Blackpool at Madejski Stadium.

Though Reading will again be without Danny Guthrie, who hopes to make a return this weekend at Millwall, Adkins says the squad is in good health ahead of this evening's game.

"We'll take that desire and energy that the players have shown yet again," he told Reading FC Player. "That togetherness - everyone working really really hard for each other.

"We're looking fit, we're looking strong. We've got a good shape about ourselves and we're looking forward to the next game against Blackpool.

"Nick Blackman came off the bench at Ipswich and was a threat - that's what we need. We had several opportunities but unfortunately we went away without any points, which was a shame for all the efforts the players put in.

"We'll take that into the next game - the lads are having a right good go."
