Gorkss on 'winning feeling'

Match winner ready to push on

Kaspars Gorkss believes Saturday’s win at Watford could prove to be a vital boost for the Royals.

The Latvian international crashed home a header (see below) five minutes into the contest at Vicarage Road, and was part of a resolute defensive display as Nigel Adkins’ side held on to clinch all three points.

“We haven’t won for a while and I think that’s the most important thing for us – to get that winning feeling back and that bit of confidence,” said Gorkss.

“There’s a lot of positives to take out of today’s game – the first half, that’s the best that we’ve played since I’ve been starting the games. Second half was maybe not so good, but still we looked more or less solid. There are things that we have to be pleased with but of course still a couple of things that need to improve.”

Over 1,500 travelling fans were in good voice throughout – and the 32-year-old gave credit to the supporters after steering home his seventh goal for the club.

“The fans were very good. That’s probably how we did it – us and the fans being together. Togetherness is one of the things we’re looking for –fans, staff, players at the club. It was a very good atmosphere.”
