Hector back with Royals

8 January 2014

Defender returns to RFC

Royals defender Michael Hector is back training with the Club after a successful loan spell at Aberdeen.

The 21-year-old played 20(+2) games for the Dons, scoring once, and became a real crowd favourite at Pittodrie, playing at both right back and centre back for Derek McInnes. Their fans gave him a great send-off this past weekend - video below.

He will now be in contention for a place in our 18-man squad as we take on Watford this coming weekend. We need to receive his international clearance but that should be a formality.

The Club were keen to see Michael back at Hogwood and assess his progress, and we have the remainder of this month to make the right decision about the best way forward for both us and the player; a promising young talent.

Michael was spotted by our scouts when playing against us in the centre of midfield in a youth team friendly, and he has continued to go from strength to strength with successful loans at Barnet, Dundalk, Cheltenham et al.
