Hope: "Real togetherness"

17 January 2014

Akpan hails the supporters

Royals midfielder Hope Akpan praised the unity within the Royals camp ahead of Saturday's game with Bolton Wanderers at Madejski Stadium.

The former Crawley man made his first start since April 2013 last weekend at Watford - where our supporters were the driving force behind the 1-0 victory, according to Hope.

"There had been a few injuries so I was hoping to get the nod," he said. "So I just tried to make sure I was ready.

"Our fans at Watford were a real positive force for the team. We did feel like it was a team performance and there was real togetherness between all of us.

Akpan added that last weekend could be a huge turning point in the season, and spoke of his love for the club.

"Hopefully it can be a big turning point. I just want to play football, I love playing football. I just want to do the best I can.

"I love the football club, I love the fans, and I love the people here."
