Jordan's versatility

14 January 2014

Obita hailed as 'exceptional'

Jordan Obita says his desire is to simply to well for the team, after he put in an excellent performance at left back for our victory at Watford last weekend.

The Academy graduate has shown fantastic versatility, playing in central midfield on his first league start for the Royals at Derby County, impressing out on the wing in many games since then before performing superbly at full back at Vicarage Road.

"I was really happy with my game but also really happy with the team," he told BBC Berkshire after the game. "It's been a while since we won, and we showed great character to win away from home - which is great.

"I'll play anywhere for the team - whether it's left back, centre-mid or out wide. I just want to do well for the team.

"We've got to take this game into the next. Hopefully we can do well in training in the build up and be ready for next week.

"I believe we should win every game. We haven't won as many as we'd like to but hopefully next week we can win."

Manager Nigel Adkins described the 20-year-old as 'exceptional' and is thrilled with his development over this season.

"Jordan has played there before - he was exceptional. We signed him on a long-term contract, we have high hopes for him and he's done great."
