HRK to miss start of season

29 July 2014

Forward victim of late challenge

Manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed that forward Hal Robson-Kanu will miss the start of the season after a late challenge during our friendly at Stevenage.

There were a number of crunching challenges going in, and Hal was fouled from behind by Charlie Lee in the first half.

Adkins said, "We've lost Hal for the start of the season and that's something we could have done without.

"It's a knee injury, we'll have a better look when we do a thorough examination of him in the next 48 hours.

"It's fair to say he will miss the start of the season.

"We'd have liked the referee to get a better grip of it in the first half, and unfortunately the competitive nature of the game, there were poor challenges going in."

The Royals are currently managing injuries to Danny Guthrie and Stephen Kelly, while Garath McCleary, Danny Williams and Jem Karacan are also out.
