Boreham Wood well beatenReading's under-18s beat our partner club Boreham Wood 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon, in their opening pre-season friendly at Hogwood Park.

The Royals, whose outfield players were no older than 17, were comfortable winners on a warm day at the training ground, with Eamonn Dolan, David Dodds and Michael Gilkes barking orders and Nick Hammond also watching the game.
Josh Barrett grabbed the first goal of the game with a fine piece of individual skill. The youngster caught the Boreham Wood goalkeeper off his line and produced a delicate chip to score a fine individual goal.
The visitors were soon level though, as the attacker found space down the left and coolly slotted home past Lewis Ward.
But the Royals retook the lead before the break. Barrett again, as he unleashed a rasping drive into the top corner from the edge of the area.
Changes were made at the break, with even younger U16s players introduced to the fray.
Tyler Frost finished off a good move, scoring at the back post to make it 3-1 before Ricardo German bagged a braced to make it five.
Reading's second year scholars, and a number of under-21s, were narrowly defeated on Tuesday night - losing 1-0 at Basingstoke Town.
