Doyle scores in Ireland draw

Reading defender Stephen Kelly played 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland in a 1-1 draw with England's World Cup opponents Costa Rica this past weekend.

Alex Pearce was an unused substitute as former Royal Kevin Doyle opened the scoring, before Celso Borges equalised from the spot.

Doyle later required five stitches after an altercation with defender Giancarlo Gonzalez, who had endured a running battle with the Wolves forward during the first-half at PPL Park. After the match, Gonzalez's actions were swiftly condemned by Costa Rica manager Jorge Luis Pinto.

Martin O'Neill's men now face a final friendly against Portugal in New Jersey on Tuesday before flying home.
