Duo in determined mood
Jake Taylor and Michael Hector are both relishing the prospect of an extended stay at Madejski Stadium.
Speaking to Reading FC Player, the Academy products cast their eye over an eventful season at the club – shortly after agreeing to sign two year deals.
“We signed to break into the first team and stake our claim. We want to play week in, week out. Hopefully we can do that next season,” said Hector.
“It was a good season for me coming back in, getting my first start and earning a home debut – playing central midfield was another string to my bow. There’s always been a chance for youth to come through into the first team here, hopefully I can kick on and make many more appearances for the club.”
Taylor, who has been with Reading since the age of eight, is also determined to make the most of his opportunity.
“It wasn’t a difficult decision at all for me because I’ve been here a long time,” he said.
“I was involved a lot more this season than I had been previously, but I’ve been patient and waited for my chance. Hopefully when I’ve played I’ve taken it. That’s what I want to do next season, I don’t know anything different apart from Reading FC so to be here and repay everyone who has helped me throughout my time here is important. The club has a lot of good youngsters coming through, you saw that with the U14s winning the trophy, along with the 21s' and 18s' success last season. In the next few years we will have a lot of good players coming through.”
