Late show seals 3-1 winReading FC Women returned from the mid-season break to defeat Aston Villa Ladies 3-1, thanks to a late show at Farnborough.
All four goals were scored in a dramatic ten-minute finale which ensured the Royals took all three points, moving them up to third place in the Womens Super League 2 - with Jayne Ludlow's side now unbeaten in the league since April.
It was an understandably subdued first half for both sides as they returned to action after a month's break, though Villa had midfielder Katy Moran was sent off after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession.
The visitors put up a brave fight throughout and it took Reading until the 78th minute to break through, as Lauren Bruton chipped stylishly over goalkeeper Caitlin Leach into the net.
Aston Villa looked to have rescued a point with just over two minutes left as Ashley Robinson bent in a fantastic shot from 30 yards that gave Nicky Davies no chance.
But the hosts went ahead again a minute into injury time, as Cox's free kick from wide on the right drifted into the far corner without anyone getting a touch.
There was still time for the hosts to score again, however, as Bruton was tripped in the area by Maisie Baker before she dusted herself off to convert the penalty.
RFC Women will look to build on their impressive form when they take on London Bees next Monday at the Hive.
