England call for defender

26 March 2014

Dickie with Three Lions U18s to face Germany

Royals Academy defender Rob Dickie has been handed his first ever England call up, as he has been included in the Young Lions squad to face Germany next month.

The centre back, who has played in every single league and FA Youth Cup fixture for Reading's under-18s so far this season, is named in a 17-man group to face the Germans at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium on Wednesday 16th April.

Dickie has been with the Royals since the age of eight, and has this season formed an excellent partnership with Dom Hyam at the back which has helped our under-18s reach the semi-finals of the Youth Cup.

The squad will meet up in Sheffield on Saturday 12th April and train at Barnsley in the build-up to the game which is four days later.
